Anyone who knew Vinnie, even in passing, knew that he had a kind heart and great jokes. Since we both had the same oncologist at UIC, we would occassionally run into each other. The last time we were waiting in a packed room on a pulmonologist. He encouraged me not to worry and that it would be OK. I actually had covid pneumonia, but his words kept me pushing to get out of the hospital. When I was feeling like giving up the fight, I always remembered how he never gave up the fight and I knew I could go on. Thank you Vinnie for all the encouragement. I will stay strong and remember how throughout the low times, you always ended up on top. You were a champion and everyone knew it. Keep on telling those jokes in heaven and make sure to say Hi to Amy. Love and miss you ,Vinnie. Groves family picnics will never be the same again!

Vinnie, we busted each other's balls from the first hello. You made every gathering more fun when you arrived.
For now, I'm leaving this as a "see you later". There's never a last goodbye. Rest in peace. I will miss you.

Vinnie you always had the family laughing. No matter how sick you were you always were upbeat and positive. I know your Pop was very very proud of you and all your accomplishments. Heaven is gaining a wonderful son. I have so many memories of you through the years. Even though in the end I wasn't able to be there you were always in my heart. You were blessed to have 2 moms and I was honored to be one. Remember the time you moved to Arizona and worked at the restaurant cousin Vinnies? You had to make sure you dated every one of the waitress. Lol You were one crazy kid and I love you to the moon. Rip

Vinnie had the biggest heart and was always smiling. Even though he was battling cancer, he always found the time to ask how I was doing and if I needed anything.

I remember when I was going in for my surgery after they found the pre-cancerous mass, Vinnie told me everything was going to be alright, and I would be fine. And I thought this guy is nuts, how can he possibly know or feel that way after everything he was going through. Well the day of my surgery came and I was naturally nervous and scared, but as they wheeled me down to the surgery suite, I looked up and there was Vinnie's smiling face on a poster in the hallway at UIC. At that moment, I knew everything was going to be o.k. I don't know why, but I felt my nerves fall away and I knew it was alright. Thank you Vinnie for being with me that day in the hospital, and helping me feel at peace. Rest well my friend, until we meet again.

Vinnie had been a good friend of my brother Chris since their days in high school back in the 90's. I myself hadn't known him all that well until around 2016 when I started hanging out with him and helping him with some of his comedy work. Over those next few years I got to know him well and vice versa. We had so many good times hanging out, writing, working on comedy bits, shooting videos, having a drink or two (or three or four…), and going to comedy shows.

Vinnie had a huge heart and was a great person. He brought joy and smiles to so many people in his life—regardless of if they were friends, family, or strangers. He'll be missed by many people. I am one of them, but I'll always have those memories filled with laughs and friendship.

I'll keep swimming friend, just like you taught me.
